Marine Corps Birthday Run

Location: Camp Pendleton
Directions: Two options. Recommended option, I-5 to Highway 76, East on 76 to Douglas Drive. Turn left and follow Douglas to Vandergrift Blvd. Turn left, follow Vandegrift through the "Back Gate". Continue a little over one mile to the first street on the left (this is 4th St, but there is no street sign on Vandegrift). There is a sign that says "Golf Course". Turn left, the start is about 1/2 mile on the left, just before Golf Course Road. Option 2, I-5 to the Camp Pendleton "Main Gate" at the northern end of Oceanside. Follow Vandegrift Blvd to 4th St, follow sign that says "Golf Course" turn right, run start is about 1/2 mile on the left, just before Golf Course Road.

This run will celebrate the birthday of America's finest fighting organization, the United States Marine Corps!!!
Rain or shine, muddy or dry, a great run to celebrate the founding of your Marine Corps.
Except for about 50 feet of asphalt, this run is total shiggy. Turkey trail about 4.25 miles, Eagle trail about 5.25 miles, Extra Eagle trail about 7 miles.
Camp Pendleton base regulations say dogs must be on leash at all times.
To drive on Camp Pendleton you will need a valid driver's lisence, current vehicle registration, and proof of insurance.
If the gate sentry asks where you are going tell them "To a Marine Corps Birthday fun run in the 16 Area". If thay ask who the sponsoers are tell them "LtCol Mike Collier, Lt Col George Eckhoff, and Maj Joe Cooke".
Car pooling recommended, Carmel Valley Park 'N Ride suggested.
