Hare of the Dog Goes Berserk
Hare(s): Dr.Dive, Burnt Tatas, Mas Penis
Location: Near De Anza Springs Resort, Jacumba
Directions: Take the 8 freeway east for about 65 miles, take exit 73 for Jacumba, turn right at the bottom of the exit ramp and immediately right again before the Shell station onto Carrizo Gorge Rd. Go about 1.5 miles down the dirt road and park on the roadside under the shade of the I-8 overpass
Run Fee: Free, but bring your own iced cooler with beers and lunch for after the ride
Trail type: (not specified)
Dog friendly: (not specified)
Grab your bike and come ride to Goat Canyon Trestle, the tallest curved wooden railroad trestle in the world. Ride starts about 10:30am (that doesn't mean show up at 11 and then start repairing your bike). The trail follows the railroad tracks and is pretty easy with several tunnels and trestles, but is a little sandy so skinny tires are not recommended. Total distance to the trestle and back is about 14 miles. The location is remote and it may be hot, so bring plenty of water and spare tubes & tools. The run is free so you'll also need to bring your own post-ride beer and food, in an iced cooler to keep them cold in your car while we're gone. Afterward we can go see if any of the Berserk campers are still hanging around at the nudist resort. If you want more than this then check out the Berserk runstart above and figure it out.
