U.S. Marine Corps Birthday Run
Hare(s): Kitty-Kitty and Psycho, assisted by Jock Strap
Location: Camp Pendleton
Directions: From the south. I-5 north to Highway 76. East 3.6 miles to Douglas Drive. Turn left, follow 4.1 miles to Vandegrift Blvd. Turn left and follow to Camp Pendleton back gate. From the gate, 1.3 miles to the first street on the left, turn left. This is 4th Street, but there is no street sign. There is a sign for the golf course. Go 0.4 miles to dirt parking lot run start on the left, just before the golf course road. From the north. I-5 south to Highway 76 and follow the directions above. Or, take the Basilone Rd. exit and follow 18.4 miles to the end at Vandegrift Blvd. Turn left 0.9 miles to Rattlesnake Canyon road, turn right 1.2 miles to Vandegrift Blvd (again). Turn right and follow 1.3 miles to 4th St. (sign to the golf course). Turn right, run start is 0.4 miles in dirt parking lot on the left.

To drive on Camp Pendleton you need:
Valid driver's license
Proof of insurance
Current registration
Consider car pooling from the Carmel Valley Park 'n Ride, allow about an hour from there.
If the gate sentry asks where you are going tell them the 16 Area for a Marine Corps Birthday run. If they ask about the sponsor tell them LtCol Mike Collier USMC (Ret) and LtCol George Eckhoff USMC (Ret).
A reminder that base regulations say dogs must be on a leash at all times.
