Trivia: What internationally successful pop/punk band formed at Poway High school in 1992? Read on down for answer. Last week's lesson was Poway geography. This week's lesson is on the people of Poway. There are several reasons why multitudes of people locate in Poway, but it probably comes down to these two main groups; professional athletes (both retired and active) and families wanting their kids in the Poway school district. The main reason professional athletes live in Poway is simple, large lots with privacy. The most famous would certainly be the late Tony Gwynn. There are many others including two WNBA players, Candice Wiggins and Kelsey Plum. Kelsey won a gold metal in the 2020 summer games. Former Atlanta Braves slugger David Justice lives here, but unfortunately, his ex-wife Halle Berry does not. On this week's run you will go past the back yard of a player for the Rams who won the Supe Bowl in February.
The run will start at Ezra Lane and Espola Road. The ending will be under a clump of trees, just 100 feet south of Ezra Lane also known as "Forest de Irish Cream". If there is no parking on Ezra you can park on futher up (south) on Espola. There is plenty of room on the side. In the parking lot of North County Soccer Park, next to where we are starting is a great coffee shop called "The King's Craft Coffee Co." It's owned by a retired NFL player who resides in Poway. They also sell sandwiches there. This week's run will feature lots of seldom used trails and singletracks. The trivia answer, Blink 182. Pictured above (on Facebook page) at Poway High in 1992
