Address: Unpaved road just north of Sunset Hills, Casa de Wax and Huge Piece. House address is 2960 Sunset Hills, Escondildo 92025, but please do NOT park on Sunset Hills - park on private road just past Sunset Hills as you come from I-15.
Directions: Just 2.5 miles off I-15 at Via Rancho Parkway. Take Via Rancho east 3/4 mile and turn right onto San Pasqual Road, following signs for Safari Park. Stay on San Pasqual for 1.6 miles and turn left on unpaved road about 100 yards after Sunset Hills. There is a sign for 13868 San Pasqual Road at the last turn (onto the road where the pack should park) and all hashers should park on the same side of the road (preferably on the left as they head in, leaving as much room for neighbors to use the road as possible).

In 1962, President Kennedy gave a speech in Texas that resulted in the greatest feat in human history, stating that "We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard." The sentence was actually much longer than that, but JFK never explained what "the other things" are. At this hash, you will find out. You will choose to do this trail not because it is easy, but because it is hard. Or, maybe it will make you hard. Trail will consist of 30 feet of paved road and more than 30,000 feet of off-road trail and shiggy, much of it virgin for the vast majority of hashers. There will be an elevation change of nearly 1,000 feet and some of the most breathtaking views in San Diego County. There will be a beer check, a wine check, and a jello check, not necessarily in that order. There will be an on-after with copious provisions, bonfire, hot tub, and music from 1962-87, the quarter century that began with JFK's Moon/"Other Things" speech, when nearly all decent contemporary music was written. In short, this will be a fitting return of the hash to Casa de Wax and Huge Piece after a 4-year hiatus.
