Mardi Gras traces its roots to ancient Roman and pagan fertility festivals, later adopted by French Catholics as a pre-Lent celebration, Fat Tuesday. French explorers brought it to North America and in Louisiana it evolved into the masked balls, parades, and proudly excessive customs we know today. We're honoring that spirit with drinking, masquerading, and unapologetic debauchery.
Soso and Scar Tissue are bringing Bourbon Street energy to San Diego with a Half-Assed Mardi Gras drinking trail, starting at NOLA on 5th and parading through parts of Hillcrest. Trail is under 3 miles but stacked with drink checks, New Orleans traditions, and bad decisions. It's also Scar's birthday trail! She's the queen, but Soso is the real MVP, NOLA born and raised.
Expect loud colors, loud music, and even louder hashers. Purple, green, and gold everywhere. Jazz vibes, beads, masks, feathers, tutus, and whatever chaos you feel like wearing. Want more beads? You gotta earn them.
